I'm 14 yrs old, 5'4", 127 lbs, 20.95% body fat, and I want to lose weight…is this a good diet?
I eat about 1500 (counting) calories in a day. I’m wondering if I should switch to 1400 to lose more weight…or cut down on carbs (ie: bread, pasta) but my mom won’t let me do either of these things.
Usually this is my daily food intake:
Breakfast: 1/2 slice cracked wheat toast and Reduced Fat Cheese, some fruit (approx. 150 calories)
Lunch: Diet Hansens Soda, Atkins Bar, Wheat Bagel, 2 different fruits, Nature Valley Bar (approx. 650 calories)
Snack: Fat Free Feta Cheese and some fruits, 1/2 slice cracked wheat bread, sometimes a serving of pasta on days when I have less lunch (approx.200 calories)
Dinner: Something consisting of salad, tofu, lentils, fat free cheese, soup, and cornflakes for dessert (approx. 500 calories)
Is there anything I should cut down on? My mom doesn’t think so because she think I will become really cranky all the time. And also she doesn’t want someone with an eating disorder in the house…
Oh yeah I used to be 140 lbs and lost 13 pounds on this diet. So yeah…just wondering if there’s anything else I should do to lose it faster. My goal is 110-115 pounds. I want to get to at least 118 by the end of June…can I make it?

You need to realize, YOU ARE NOT OVERWEIGHT!!! These thoughts you’re having are UNhealthy! And could even end up ruining your life.
Your BMI is 21.8 which is NORMAL. Don’t beleive me? Check an online BMI calculator.
You should NOT lose weight by counting calories. The key is to stay healthy, not lose weight. You’re healthy if you eat balanced meals (which include carbs!) and exersise regularly.
What’s more, you CANNOT set goals to reach a certain weight. The taller you are, the more you’ll weigh, it just works that way. Cut down any more, and you’ll may be in danger.
You may have an eating disorder. In which case, get help soon. You could permenently damage your health.
Sometimes teenagers feel fat, these thoughts will pass. Make sure they don’t take over your life.

Your eating sounds like a good diet, but just adding in some exercise can get you even faster results. I’m not saying you have to work out a lot, but a little exercise about 3 or 4 times a week can shed an extra 2 pounds.

That diet is just fine, your doing fine, however, you should also run at least 15 minutes a day. Cut down the sugars and, if your mom won’t let you cut down the carbs at least eat less of them.
Stop the sodas, candies, etc… And you will see better results.
Yes, its ok if you have cornflakes for desert, and don’t eat many fruits a day, its awesome you’re eating fruits instead of candies and those things but remember fruits have sugars too. Hope you get to your goal and Never give up, It takes a lot: Perseverance, Hope and Time.

Ummm….I am gonna agree with your mother on this one. You are only 14 and you are still growing. Your body needs calories, not a diet. What I would do would be to increase your fruits and veggies, make sure your carbs are whole grain, and eat good sources of protein.
I follow a 50 – 25 – 25 plan. For every meal, I make sure that half of my plate is fruits/veggies, 25% is grains/carbs, and 25% is protein. I also make sure that I have at least 60 min of activity a day. This can be walking with the dog, chasing the neighbours kids, etc.

i don’t think u should cut down anything because u r still in a growing stage , ur body needs all source of food , what u can do however is start excercising. instead of eat 100 calorie less try exercise to burn 100 – 200 calorie a day , when u lose weight without excercising u lose muscle as well which will result in flappy body , if u excercise like run and do some cardio and burn 200 a day not only u will lose weight u will also have a nice tone body as well. like i said ur still young so everything is easy for you to do , no need to torture urself , would u rather be skinyand weaker or skiny and stronger
