Don's Patronize me yahoo family, but seriously -?
how can the government allow the sale/exploiting of acai berries (a fruit, herbal supplement from the earth), when it has side effects, such as: high metobolism & weight lose?
However, the government has illegalized the sale of marijuana (a plant, an herb from the earth), that has side effects as well – I mean it’s not ‘our’ fault this herb affects people differently, right? Even if they do kill and act crazy behind it. Look at the sudden rise of acai berry product on our market. People are lying and doing what they can to push it to the consumers. What’s the difference? They both are natural herbs, with distinguishing side affects for different people, and are being pushed for money. I’m just saying…
it was supoose to say "Don’t", skip the semantics for now -
Whose to say everyone loses weight using ‘acai berry products’, and whose to say everyone experience the same affect when using ‘marijuana’? apparently the latter is good for something because if it wasn’t, then why California legalize it for ‘medicinal’ use? makes you go mmmmm, someone is getting paid regardless…
ok, KRS, but we haven’t learned everything about this ‘acai berry’ which doesn’t grow in the US. it took some years of study and usage before this marijuana thing got waaaay out of hand. I don’t think our goverment really take the time to explore these herbs before banning/allowing them to be sold.
We will never know the other ‘medicinal’ value of different herbs, not only marijuana.
I mean look at opiats, it didn’t just fall in someone’s mouth and they say "oh, pain gone, woohoo’, right?

there’s wouldn’t be deals if (read the above)…opiates are sold on the street as we speak…

If you have to import it you can tax and control it. If it grows freely almost anywhere you can’t tax or control it. I know M is imported two but more of it is caught than gets through. Marijuana can be found growing freely all over the country, even in the national forests. The used to announce on the news in my city when they were burning a wild growing patch on the riverfront. The had to block it out of the news because of all the traffic jams from people trying to get down wind of the smoke. If it was legal those who wanted to use it would just grow their own, and avoid all the taxes that would be stuck on it.
Another interesting question would would be, if it was legalized as a cash crop would it ease unemployment and stimulate the economy.

Well what’s your question?? Coz the title doesn’t make any sense – who is Don? Wish people would learn to write clear English before they post questions!

The difference is you don’t hear of too many people lacing their acai berries with angel dust, herion, cocaine, or opium. You also won’t hear too many drug addicts saying they started off on acai berries and then progressed to shooting dope. Marijuana is a gateway drug that kids start off with before they go onto other drugs. If you ask any dopefiend, they will tell you they started smoking weed first.

When was the last time you heard an acai berry deal go bad? When was the last time a truckload of acai berries was stopped at the border? When was the last time an acai berry grow op was located and destroyed? When was the last time someone was so desperate for acai berry that someone was murdered for it?
Marijuana is part of an illegal industry. Even if legalized, it can’t be regulated. People will still smuggle it across the border, still grow it in their house, still sell it to kids on the street. There is no way it can be solely sold in specialty stores and then kept for "personal use" only. There’s too much money to be made in it, and frankly, the people who make money off of drugs are scumbags who I really don’t want to have money.
Finally there’s democracy. The majority of people in America do not want marijuana decriminalized. They want it to remain illegal. If made legal, or decriminalized, democracy fails. And nobody, not even drug addicts, wants to lose their free country.
