No, they don’t. I read about it, and it’s harmful to your body, except the ones in the grocery stores, which are overpriced anyway.
I use the ShrinkIt Weight Loss System, it’s working great. I’m starting to look good AND feel good. The ShrinkIt program includes:

    1. The Appetizer Diet® Shakes AND Cookies give you the help you need to avoid over eating and eating the wrong snacks.

    3. Omega 3 which burns fat
    4. Crave Energy Drink – Which is Healthy.

Simply mix one packet into approximately 16oz of pure water or whatever other beverage you prefer and drink slowly. You will love the taste and in just a few minutes you will feel the most incredible energy come over you. The energy will last about 4-6 hours on average.

It seems that every five years or so a new fad fashion food is found somewhere exotic which ‘enables’ people to lose weight. The fact that this fruit or herb or whatever was hitherto unknown offers marketeers a great opportunity to claim whatever benefits enter their heads from the drinking/eating of it.

Usually these claims are either ‘reduces heart disease’, ‘fights cancer’, ‘helps lose weight’ or all of them combined. This claim is obviously made simply to sell more of the product however and in a couple of years they will move on from acai to an as yet unknown herb from the jungles of Cambodia or somewhere similar.

Or the short answer – YES!

But no more so than eating the highly exotic banana, the delicious melon or the luscious kiwi.

And I bet they are much cheaper right now.

In fact, acai fruit has more calories than most others. I live in Brazil and have been drinking acai smoothies for over ten years. And although it may have helped me lose weight, it certainly wasn’t the cause of it because for five of those years I was obese.

That said, acai is very healthy. So, if you substitute coca-cola or other soft drinks then for sure acai (juice) will HELP you lose weight. In its pure form I often pepare it as a smoothie with banana and strawberries. This is a meal within itself and sure beats a greasy fry up with mayo on top.

Acai is packed with vitamins (as are other fruits) and proteins but it also contains very high levels of thiacin (do not quote me on the English spelling of that word) which is also found in red wine. I am not a nutritionist but if I’m not mistaken this substance reduces cholesterol and cancer causing free radicals.

The main benefit of acai over other fruits however, is its fibre content. One portion of acai provides recommended daily fibre intake for an adult. This will certainly help you lose weight.

    But…

Drinking less coke helps you lose weight.
Eating more fresh fruit helps you lose weight.
Cutting out burgers helps you lose weight.
Taking the stairs helps you lose weight.
Smaller portions helps you lose weight.
Taking acai supplements helps you lose weight.
And so on. Combine all of the above and that’s a lot of help. In fact, with that much help you WILL lose weight.

And just one more bit of help – buy a very small notepad, snap a pencil in half, carry them everywhere and jot down everything you eat for a week. Try it, you’ll be amazed.

    Good luck.

short answer yes. long answer is yes but it will only help… you still need to contribute in other ways. Read reviews, try different trials (remember to cancel the trial after 3-4 days so that they dont keep billing you).

Take the Acai Berry itself is a good lifestyle choice. The supplements I am yet to be totally convinced.
