can i lose 50lbs in 5-6 months?
Im 5’7 1/2" (5 foot, 7 and a half inches tall) , 188lbs. (188 pounds) big hips&big butt for a white/native/latina girl.
my goal is to reach back down to 140-130lbs. i am also 17 years old.
i am taking acai berry supplements right now. i just started and i lost 7lbs in 5 days. Yes, i am working out. i can not work out much because i have asthma. i can’t even really do 5 laps around the gym, 2-1 laps around a track. so if i lose about 2-4lbs each week ill lose about 50lbs, maybe, by june. True? False? Yes? No? Maybe so? And how can i do this? SAFELY. ? I have GREAT motivation and my boyfriend/fiancee is helping motivate me. I do believe i can lose 50lbs by June. I count calories but i also eat healthy. i cut out all the soda, junk food, chips, candy bars, cookies, etc. PLUS, when i have the graving for a candy bar i drink some water and eat a nutrigrain bar instead
. i do not eat breakfast (do to having no time). i eat little lunch(do to having little time also and being busy) BUT, i DO eat a little before i workout. and after i work out i eat(which would be my snack, strawberry nutrigrain bar and a bottle of water. (water= 0cal., nutrigrain bar= 130cal., 30calories from fat. but thats just my snack)
if i can gain 60lbs in 3months than i can lose 50lbs in 5 and a half months, right?
NOTE: my waist is WAY smaller than my hips and butt…….but i still have fat/flab on my stomach. i cant even wear a swim suit anymore!
NOTE2: i have already gotten my thyroid checked 4 times in the past year, and each time it turned out negative.

You seem like you already know what to do…they key is portion control and eating healthy, of course. Believe it or not, you can lose weight without working out, but working out helps you lose in faster. Instead of going to the gym and making your asthma act up, you can just make small changes to your lifestyle to help you lose weight faster. Examples: Take the stairs instead of the elevator, walk instead of drive, walk the dog instead of watching tv…things like that. You should start making time to eat breakfast though. Eating breakfast kick starts your metabolism, so you start burning calories sooner. You seem like you know that you need to cut out all sugary, high-fat foods. Eat lots of vegetables and fruits, moderate amounts of whole-grain bread/crackers and lean meats (chicken, fish, turkey…) and some nuts as well as low-fat cheese and yogurt. Drink lots of water! For a fun "dessert" you could dip fresh pieces of fruit into melted dark chocolate fondue. Dark chocolate has healthy antioxidants in it so it’s ok to eat every once in a while. Just remember to eat small portions but don’t starve yourself. Good luck!

I used this diet myself, helped me lose 15 pounds in a month while still eating what I want once a week. Perfect fit for you imo

Gaining weight is a heck of a lot easier than taking it off… but if you really put your mind to it, you can probably do it.
When did you start your diet? I see you started the acai berries 5 days ago but I’m wondering about the cutting out junk food and stuff and also not eating breakfast and hardly any lunch.
I’m asking because if you try to cut out too much too quickly, you will definately relapse and go on a binge.
Even if its just a little bit, try to eat some breakfast, even if its just some fruit.
Also if you havent already, try not to eat 3 hours before you go to bed, it helps.

Acai is a waste of time – you’re losing weight because of the changes you’ve made to your diet and to the increase in physical activity. The healthy rate to lose weight is 1-2lbs per week although many people do lose more in the first week because they stop retaining water from eating healthier.
Remember not to eat fewer than 1200 calories per day – I’m worried if you skip breakfast and barely eat lunch most of the time you’re starving yourself which will always backfire. Your body will revolt and drive you to overeat as a form of self preservation. 1200 calories a day will still give you the weight loss of 1-2lbs per week and when combined with exercise you’ll be getting closer to 2lbs per week most of the time.
I have asthma too, so just do what you can. Talk to your doctor about controlling your asthma, and he may even recommend using your rescue inhaler before starting your exercise. Also keep in mind that asthma or not, if you’re not used to running than it will take some time to work up to running laps of a track. Pace yourself so you can last longer, and if that means doing a slow jog for 1/4 or even less of each lap and walking the rest, then do it so you can keep up a pace for 30-45 minutes. You may even find that you need to walk the whole time to keep going for that long right now, but that’s ok too. Do that for a few weeks then try adding a little bit of jogging back in.
Definitely sounds like you’re on the right track though – thinking about what you eat, how much you eat and physical activity. I do hate to break it to you though but "Nutri"grain bars nutritionally as good for you as cookies – so just remember to treat them as you would treat a real cookie – a treat. For your own eating plan you may want to include a treat like this every day or you may choose just a few times a week or less, depending how the rest of your plan works out.
I would definitely talk to your doctor though about gaining 60lbs in 3 months – that is an incredible amount of weight to put on so quickly and there may be some underlying medical condition contributing to that.
