Are Acai Berry supplements acceptable for use on adolescents?

My son is almost 14 years of age, and he’s been bugging me about the use of all these popular Acai Berry/Colon Cleanse trials on the internet. He says thousands of people have tried and recommend these supplements for weight loss.

Now don’t get me wrong, he’s a healthy, 5’8, 140 pound, active kid. He’s trying to get ‘ripped’ this summer, and by the looks of his practice schedules, he’s going to. He swims on a club swim team, on what could be considered an almost professional level, for 22+ hours a week, not including the 4-8 hours he runs/exercises on his own time a week. So in total, his total weekly exercise time is about 25-30 hours.

Now, I’ve always been sketchy about internet offers. Not only do all the blogs have adult testers of this product, I’ve always been a big conspirator against offers period, (pay them money, they’ll say whatever you like). So tell me, Internet, if possible, should my son use these offers, and if so, what i s the best place ot receive them from?

Don’t fall prey to the internet offers!!

I’ve heard horror stories of people who have paid for the ‘free’ trial offers only to find their credit cards end up getting charged monthly for the pills. Plus, they don’t work anyways.

I suggest doing your research on these pills. You can purchase them just about anywhere, not just the internet. Check stores like GNC and Vitamin World. Read the labels. They actually have a very minuscule amount of the acai berry in them. They are made up mostly of chemicals and ‘vitamins’. And remember the name, COLON CLEANSE. That means it’s a DIET supplement. It’s not going to add any nutritional value to your son’s diet. He will find himself sitting on the toilet while his bowels empty as that’s what these ‘miracle’ diet pills do, empty your bowels of waste, water, and nutrients, thus forcing your body to temporarily lose weight, mostly water weight, only to regain it within a few days.

If he wants to get ‘ripped’ this summer, his intense workout regime will probably do it as it is. Working out 20+ hours per week is extremely intense! You’re going to end up spending most of your money this summer buying up groceries as he’s going to be scarfing down food to replace the tons of calories he’s going to be burning.
